Visitor Etiquette
During your visit to SAT, there will be some rules you will be expected to follow while inside the tribunal building.
Being on time
You should arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of your hearing. You are reminded to provide extra time to go through security. Security will be airport-style, requiring you to remove shoes and coats and to send bags and electronics through our scanner.
You will receive notification of your hearing details from the Tribunal. You are also able to check hearings on the Public Displays, eCourts Portal, or by ringing the Tribunal if you are not sure where and when your hearing will take place.
Mobile phone usage
You will need to turn off mobile phones and any other electronic devices before entering the Hearing Room.
Food & Drinks
Food and drinks are not to be taken into or consumed in hearing rooms. Small water cups and filtered water are provided on each hearing floor, these may be taken into and consumed in hearing rooms. Water is also provided inside the hearing rooms.
Hearing room behaviour
You may be asked to stand as the judicial officer enters or leaves the room, and if you need to leave the room during the hearing, you will need to ask the judicial officer for a short adjournment. Please treat staff with courtesy and refer to the judicial officer by their correct title e.g., “Member”. The case management officer will make you aware of the correct title before the judicial officer enters the hearing.
