Hearings and Dispute Resolution
When SAT is dealing with your proceeding, there are two main types of hearing:
- a directions hearing, to decide how to move forward;
- a final hearing to hear the parties’ arguments.
There are also a range of Alternative Dispute Resolution options, which may be recommended for your proceeding.
How will I know about the hearing?
SAT will send all parties a notice of hearing stating the date, time and room number. Most final hearings are held at the SAT offices.
What about proceedings involving $10,000 or less?
You may choose to have it dealt with as a minor proceeding. These issues will be raised at the first directions hearing, and can allow you to have the matter dealt with: without a hearing; without legal representation; or without appeals. For more information see Minor Proceedings.
