eCourts Portal Help
This page will help you with lodging via the eCourts Portal. The eCourts portal and eLodgment works best with Google Chrome. You may use other browsers, but we recommend you use Google Chrome. If you do not currently use Chrome it can be downloaded by clicking this link.
The Benefits of using eCourt Portal:
- eLodgment is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week;
- It is safe and protected system for confidential documents;
- The eCourts Portal is quicker and more efficient than post or facsimile, which will result in fewer delays for Tribunal users; and
- Documents are taken as being filed on the date and time recorded in the eCourts Portal.
There are many things you can do on the eCourts Portal. This includes:
a. Register as an Individual for the eCourts Portal (Help Card #1)
b. Register as an employee of an organisation for the eCourts Portal (Help Card #2)
c. Make An Application (Help Card #3)
d. Lodge documents (Help Card #4)
e. View Documents related to your Matter (Help Card #5)
f. Pay Fees or Invoice (Help Card #6)
The first step is to register for an account. All you need is internet access, Google Chrome and an email account.
Registration with the eCourts portal can be done as an individual or as part of an organisation. Registrations for new accounts and new users will be processed within 24 working hours.
To register for an account you must:
Go to the eCourts Portal home page;
Read the terms and conditions;
Click on the register link; and
Complete and submit the registration form.
If you have forgotten your password, or locked yourself out of your account:
Go to the eCourts Portal, and select the link Forgot your Password or Account Locked?
Enter your email address, then select Request Password Reset.
You will now receive:
A text message from COURTSWA which contains a SMS verification number. If you have provided an international phone number, you will receive an additional email instead of an SMS text message.
An email from CTGHelpdesk which contains the link Manage Password.
Open your email from CTGHelpdesk, and select the link Manage Password.
Tick the box, then click Agree.
Create a new password.
Confirm the password.
Enter the SMS (or email) verification number.
Click Create Password.
You will receive a notification to confirm your password creation was successful.
You will now be able to login.
You can lodge your application online through the eCourts Portal. If you don’t know the Section or the Act to apply under the ‘Assisted Lodgement’ will help you find the most relevant application for your situation.
To make an application you must:
On the eCourts Portal home page, select State Administrative Tribunal on the left-hand side;
Select I know act and section or I need help; and
Proceed through the questions and lodge the application.

One of the advantages of the eCourts Portal is that it allows you to lodge documents on your matter. You are also able to lodge Tribunal forms from the website that are applicable to your matter (e.g. notice of legal representation, request for access to documents, service receipts etc.).
To lodge a document you must:
Go to your current matter and select lodge;
Select and upload the document you want to file; and
Confirm and lodge the document.

Once your document has been lodged, you will be able to view it on the eCourts Portal (please see Help Card #5). If you do not see your document, it will mean that it has not been received by the Tribunal.
Once a document is lodged on the eCourts Portal, please do not email a copy to the Tribunal.
Registered users can receive notifications via the eCourts portal. When a new document is uploaded or an order is published by the Tribunal, a notification will be sent to your nominated email address.
The eCourts Portal also allows you to view documents and orders on the file. When a new document is uploaded or an order is published by the Tribunal, a notification will be sent to your nominated email address.
To view the documents on your matter you must:
Click on eLodgment;
Search and open your current matter;
Click on view document list to view documents on the matter.

You can make payments for any invoice via the eCourts Portal home page. This means that outstanding invoices can be paid instantly. There is no processing required by the Tribunal and you can receive your receipt online once payment has been made.
To pay your fee or invoice you must:
On the eCourts Portal home page, select ‘Pay Invoice’ on the bottom right-hand side;
Enter your invoice number and confirm that the invoice details are correct;
Enter Payment Details and click Submit.

eLodgment is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, subject to the Tribunals’ rules covering the electronic lodgement of documents. It is a safe and secure mechanism, and therefore is a suitable system for confidential documents. There are no extra filing fees for using eLodgment.
The eCourts Portal is quicker and more efficient way to lodge documents than post, facsimile or email submissions. With a higher volume of users registered to the eCourts Portal, the Tribunal’s ability to answer submissions or queries will be much more effective. Key research has demonstrated that use of the eCourts portal will result in fewer delays for Tribunal users. In addition, a document filed electronically is taken to have been filed on the date and time recorded in the eCourts Portal.
eLodgment users can search basic information on most matters. For example:
- Names of parties;
- Parties representatives;
- Case reference number;
- Date lodged; and
- Hearing date and types.
Anyone can use eLodgment, all you need is internet access, Google Chrome, and an email account.
If you don’t have the internet or a computer at home you may wish to use local libraries or community centres; however, there may be costs involved for use of that service.
Yes, the Tribunal still currently accepts documents via email however, eLodgment at the Tribunal will soon be compulsory. Once eLodgment becomes compulsory, submissions and documents will not be accepted via email. Therefore, it would be beneficial to become familiar with the eCourts Portal prior to mandatory usage.

Yes, once you have made an application, you have to serve a copy to people who are affected by it.
Under the SAT Rules, you have seven days after applying to serve the application on the other parties, unless SAT orders otherwise.
There are some exceptions to this rule, such as the Guardianship and Administration Act 1990. This doesn’t require the Applicant to serve documents on other people. In these cases, SAT will give relevant parties notice of a hearing.

eCourts / eCourts Portal / EDS: The eCourts Portal is the State Administrative Tribunal’s Electronic Document System (EDS). This is the online system where a document can be lodged and viewed with the Tribunal, where parties receive communications of lodged documents, where parties can see upcoming hearings, be notified of hearing outcomes, and receive communications from the Tribunal.
eFile: The electronic Tribunal file made up of the lodged documents
eLodgment: eLodgment is a term to describe lodging documents in the Tribunal electronically, using the eCourts Portal.
